SAIB CE-12-30 Announcements
The FAA issued Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) CE-12-30 for the Eclipse 500. This is NOT an Airworthiness Directive, but rather a tool used by the FAA to communicate potential airworthiness concerns directly to the registered owners.
Earlier this year, Eclipse Service Centers identified areas of minor surface corrosion on the wing attach lugs in a small number of aircraft. In response, EAI issued Mandatory Service Bulletins 500-57-011 and 500-53-008 to inspect for this condition and to provide measures to prevent future occurrences.
While operators are not compelled to follow the recommendations of the SAIB, Eclipse Aerospace strongly encourages operators to complete Mandatory Service Bulletins 500-57-011 and 500-53-008 at the next 300 hour/24month inspection or earlier convenience.
Nearly 100 aircraft have completed the Service Bulletins with a small percentage exhibiting minor corrosion. To date, all effected aircraft have been repairable with field deployable techniques. Timely compliance with these bulletins will prevent future repairs and assure the long term value of your aircraft.
