SIL Summary
Eclipse Aerospace and Cobham have released autopilot software version 7.15.15A to address an issue with performing the autopilot pre-flight test on battery power.
SIL Background
Eclipse Aerospace received reports from several operators that the autopilot pre-flight test was failing with the aircraft on battery power and tested normally with the aircraft on generator or ground power.
Eclipse Action
Eclipse Aerospace and Cobham investigated several field reports of intermittent servo engagement during ground tests and the autopilot servo's performance envelope. As a result, Eclipse Aerospace and Cobham have released autopilot software version 7.15.15A. This software change lowers the servo engage voltage to 21 volts, which will allow the autopilot pre-flight test to be reliably performed with the aircraft on battery power.
Suggested Operator Action
All new production and repaired servos coming from Cobham have the new software installed. An Eclipse Aerospace service bulletin will be released in the near future to load the software on aircraft that currently have version 7.15.15
