SIL Summary
This SIL provides guidance on cleaning the Phasebreak ESL Icephobic Coating
SIL Background
Eclipse Aerospace received a request to provide guidance on the recommended cleaner for the Phasebreak ESL Icephobic Coating.
Eclipse Action
Eclipse Aerospace recommends cleaning the Phasebreak ESL icephobic coating with 99% isopropyl alchohol and a clean, grease free cloth. Isopropyl alcohol will not damage the coating and it will remove dirt and oil. It can be used to spot clean or to clean a large area.
Suggested Operator Action
Owner/operators should always follow all AMM policies and procedures related to cleaning and servicing the aircraft. The information in AMM 20-08-00, Sealants and Adhesives - Maintenance Practices, should be reviewed before using isopropyl alcohol around the aircraft.
If the icephobic coating around the static ports has accumulated dirt or oil, cleaning with isopropyl alcohol is an effective way to remove it. When cleaning, use caution to prevent alcohol from entering the static port. It is better to pour a small amount on a cloth vs. spraying alcohol on the coating. Never clean the coating with the static port heat turned on.
