SIL Summary
This SIL provides supplementary information regarding the introduction of improved Pitot/AOA and Pitot/Static probe software for FIKI Certified Eclipse 500 & 550 Aircraft.
SIL Background
In response to customer feedback, Eclipse Aerospace, Inc. ("EAI") and Harco Labs developed a new version of the embedded software that provides better probe performance throughout the entire flight envelope. Among the improvements incorporated are:
- Increased heat application on ground for 20 minutes after probe power-up to address any accumulated moisture.
- Increased heat throughout the entire flight envelope.
- Elimination of "power cycling" in flight.
- The addition of an insulating gasket to reduce the effects of heat loss to fuselage.
Eclipse Action
Tooling, parts, and software to perform the software upgrade will be available at EAI's Chicago and Albuquerque Service Centers beginning the week of September 15, 2014. The software upgrade will be available at all other EAI Authorized Service Centers during the week of September 22, 2014.
This upgrade can only be performed at an EAI Authorized Service Center. For operators without reasonable access to an EAI Authorized Service Center, please contact EAI Service Engineering and we will assist you in obtaining compliance. All upgrades must be coordinated through a maintenance provider authorized by the FAA, EASA, or other Civil Aviation Authority having jurisdiction and approved by Eclipse Aerospace, Inc.
EAI believes this upgrade provides great value to operators and encourages operators to incorporate this upgrade at the earliest opportunity. All EAI Authorized Service Centers will initially offer a flat rate price of $1,150.00 USD.
Suggested Operator Action
Operators are encouraged to schedule the upgrade with their preferred EAI Authorized Service Center as soon as possible. The expected adoption rate for this upgrade is high, and available test equipment will limit bandwidth.
