Applicability

All Aircraft equipped with Electromech Actuators

SIL Summary

This SIL provides information regarding EAI support for actuators manufactured by Electromech Technologies (Electromech).

SIL Background

Eclipse Aerospace, Inc. (EAI) has received requests from customers who wish to have actuators manufactured by Electromech Technologies repaired, rather than upgrading to the actuators recommended by EAI and manufactured by Tamagawa Seiki Co.,LTD (Tamagawa).

Eclipse Action

EAI no longer recommends the use of actuators manufactured by Electromech. EAI also will not return removed Electromech actuators to the manufacturer for repair.

EAI's Electromech stock is limited to units on-hand and will not be replenished. EAI strongly recommends, and customers are strongly encouraged to, upgrade their aircraft to the Tamagawa actuators. Electromech actuators will only be supplied (when available) at the explicit written instructions of the aircraft owner/operator.

Electromech is currently accepting actuators for repair directly from the end user.

If a customer's aircraft is at an EAI Factory Service Center, or an EAI Authorized Service Center, and the customer wishes to have an Electromech actuator repaired, the Service Center will remove and install the unit, but will not facilitate, or particiate in, returning it to Electromech for repair. The Service Center will present the removed unit to the customer so that they may assume full responsibility for arranging the repair and for all associated costs. The customer will be solely responsible for all logistics and financial arrangements.

NOTE: Any warranty provided by Electromech for repair of the component is an agreement between Electromech and the end user. Any labor charges incurred to remove and re-install a component, whether under warranty through Electromech or not, will be the responsibility of the end user.

Suggested Operator Action

EAI recommends replacing Electromech actuators with Tamagawa actuators. Various modification bulletins have been prepared by EAI to support this upgrade. Customers wishing to repair Electromech actuators may do so, but do so against the manufacturer's recommendations and must arrange their own logistics with Electromech.
