SIL Summary
This SIL provides guidance regarding oil leaking from the gearbox of the Gear-Driven Compressor Assemby (GDCA).
SIL Background
The GDCA supplier has identified a mechanism by which lubricating oil for the GDCA gearbox can be vented overboard during operation.
Eclipse Action
Eclipse Aerospace, Inc. (EAI), and the GDCA supplier are developing modifications to the GDCA installation to prevent gearbox oil loss.
Suggested Operator Action
If oil is noticed under the nose, or streaking down the side of the aircraft, operators are advised to stop operating the air conditioning system (VCS) and take the aircraft to an EAI Authorized Service Center. The service center will check, and service as necessary, the GDCA gearbox oil level. In addition, a temporary modification to the GDCA will be performed that will prevent further oil leakage and permit continued operation until the permanent solution can be installed.
