SIL Summary

This SIL provides guidance concerning main aircraft battery charger voltage specification.

SIL Background

EAI received a request from a customer to use a battery charger capable of supplying 28.6 volts versus the AMM specification of 29.0 to 29.7 volts.

Eclipse Action

After consulting with the battery manufacturer EAI has determined that a battery charger capable of supplying 28.6 volts is acceptable for charging the Hawker battery product number F0773-3005 with a 10% increase in the charging time. This change in battery charger specification will be included in the next release of the Eclipse 500 and 550 AMM.

Suggested Operator Action

Operators that choose to use a 28.6 volt charger should increase the charging time by at least 10%. For instance, lengthen 6hr to approximately 7hr, and (if needed for second and third attempts) 12hr to about 13.5hr, and 24hr to 27hr.
