Applicability
Aircraft with IFMS 2.08 or 2.5.2 EFIS Software and ADS B
SIL Summary
This SIL provides guidance regarding an issue with setting aircraft configurations via the Avio Maintenance Computer's (AMC) Tab 31 Aircraft Configuration page that disables the independent ADS-B system installed on the aircraft.
SIL Background
The Tab 31 Aircraft Configuration page is accessible on all versions of the AMC. It is the way that changes to options and equipment settings are usually made in the Aircraft Computer System (ACS). Aircraft with IFMS 2.08 and 2.5.2 EFIS software comply with the FAA's ADS-B mandate by installing an independent (non-integrated) solution. Installing and activating this solution requires setting an ADS-B configuration option that cannot be accessed by the AMC's Tab 31 Aircraft Configuration page. The ADS-B configuration option is accessed and set via the AMC's Tab 31 ACS Config Options page. The Tab 31 ACS Config Options page is available on AMCs with Factory Service Center licenses. It is not available on Gold and Customer AMCs. ADS-B becomes disabled when the Aircraft Configuration page is used to set an option. This happens because the Aircraft Configuration page does not have access to the ADS-B configuration option. When the AMC writes the update to the ACS via the Aircraft Configuration page it un-sets the option and disables ADS-B. To retain the ADS-B option setting the ACS Config Options page must be used when any change to the aircraft configuration is to be made.
Eclipse Action
Eclipse engineering has revised the license files for Factory Service Center AMCs to allow access to the ACS Config Options page.
Suggested Operator Action
Customers should not use the Aircraft Configuration page when making a change to the aircraft configuration on 2.0.8/2.5.2 aircraft. The ACS Config Options page is the recommended way to set options and equipment settings.
